List Released of Top 20 Intersections Most Prone to Detroit Car Accidents

Thousands of Detroit Car Accidents occur each year. But new data shows that certain intersections see many more collisions than others. Records from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments identify the top 20 most accident-prone intersections in the city.

According to an article from The Oakland Press, the list shows that the corner of Ford and Haggerty Roads as having the highest number of accidents last year, accounting for a total of 75 crashes last year. The intersection also had the highest average of crashes from 2008 to 2012 with 67 accidents.

A disturbing number of accidents were recorded along 12 Mile Road. More than 1,000 crashes were reported along the road over the four year period examined. The intersection with Orchard Lake Road saw the most crashes though, with an average of more than 61 crashes occurring at the location each year.

City officials say they hope this data can be used to pinpoint locations that may need improvements to infrastructure or where increased law enforcement presence is needed in order to reduce the number of accidents in the future.

The Bloomfield Hills Personal Injury Attorneys with Michigan Injury Lawyers are aware of how dangerous certain intersections in the Detroit area can be. The firm is here to help anyone who has been injured in an accident through no fault of their own.
