Sarah Grundy, the youngest of a set of triplets, had an older brother and sister born minutes before her. She graduated from Pinckney Community High School, enjoyed watching ice hockey and wanted to be a nurse. She was planning to begin studying for that vocation at Washtenaw Community College. However her life’s plans were cut short after a tragic series of events that started with a bonfire mishap in April 2013, which caused her to become burned over 86 percent of her body. That in turn caused Sarah to have to spend over half a year of recovery time at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor enduring the healing of several skin surgeries.
Sarah Grundy was finally able to come home this past November and she would likely have been fully recovered within two years according to what the doctors had told the family earlier. However, in late January Sarah died unexpectedly leaving no clue as to the cause. The Livingston County medical examiner’s office predicts six to eight weeks for release of the autopsy.
