Michigan Bicycle Accident Claims Chicago Businessman’s Life

A 46-year-old businessman from Chicago was killed this week as the result of a Michigan Bicycle Accident. Reports indicate the crash happened at approximately 4 p.m. along Three Oaks Road in Chikaming Township.

According to an article from the Chicago Sun-Times, the victim was riding his bike along the stretch of road near his vacation home when a heavy rainstorm began suddenly. Investigators believe the storm may have inhibited the vision of the 67-year-old motorist who struck the cyclist from behind.

All too often, bicycle accidents occur because a motorist failed to see a bicyclist in the road. These incidents highlight the need for motorists to be more aware of their surroundings when at the wheel, considering distraction is becoming a leading cause for fatal accidents.

This leaves many citizens wondering what they can do to improve awareness and reduce the chances of causing a bicycle accident. Experts say putting cellphones down and eliminating loud noises, like car stereos, can be effective ways to stay focused on the road. Turning headlights on and slowing down to allow for more reaction time can also help prevent accidents.

The Michigan Personal Injury Lawyers with Michigan Injury Lawyers are aware of how difficult the loss of a loved one to an unforeseen accident can be. The firm would like to send their deepest sympathies to the family of the victim of this tragic crash.
